TOM TOM MAGAZINE:
drummers + music + feminism

Tom Tom Magazine is the only magazine in the universe that focuses on female drummers. When i was starting to drum at the age of 9, I saw the drum media, with 100% dudes plus a dab of Sheila E, and I knew that had to change. That I could actually be part of that change would blow my lil 9 year old mind. Then came (tom tom editor) Mindy Abovitz, who i had the luck of meeting at warehouse shows that Kickball played in Brooklyn some 17 years later. I have worked for the magazine as its Northwest Correspondent almost since its inception. I've been a writer, curator, and editor for Tom Tom, manage PNW distro, and organize showcases and events in Portland to showcase the Northwest's drummers. And sometimes I get to do amazing stuff like fill a huge museum with drumming with 19 other women. Here is the some of the work I have personally contributed to the mag.
